Admissibility of evidence refers to whether or not the evidence may be introduced to a judge or jury. If evidence is inadmissible, it cannot be presented to the court in order to “prove” or bolster an argument. As a general rule, relevant evidence is admissible and irrelevant evidence is inadmissible. In the United States, evidence that was obtained in violation to constitutional law, even if relevant, is inadmissible.
